So why would the Lowes Plumbing expert tell me to plug the vent in my draining system????

The problem, flooding in the basement when the washer pumps out the DIRTY water!!!  I had run a hose nearly 4 feet into the drain to try and stop the flooding.  Did not help.  Tried 4 or 5 other things and none helped.  I took photos of the problem into the local LOWES store in Roeland Park, KS and showed them to the associate on duty.  He said plug the vent line outside open a close a stop.  THAT WOULD DO IT.  Well it made it worse.  Wonder what my lawyer would say about this went floor finally gives in???

At the right is the open vent line.  There was a vent cap on it when the prevous owner left for Texas several years ago. The seal worn down and it apparently fell off and some one carried it off I guess.

Below is the cap he suggested and the cap he said to loosen and tighten which made no sense either????

So I created a riser and tried the fixed height and sealed floor opening to see if that helped!
